"Make Your Own Perfume" with Galimard

Last September we had a family holiday in the South of France, and on that trip, we booked a “make your own perfume” workshop with Galimard in Grasse.

My Galimard Perfume

The choice for our perfume workshop was between the Galimard perfume house and the Fragonard one (love their perfumes too). But I went with the Galimard workshop in the end, to know why you have to read my Galimard Perfume Workshop post. Plus, it has the whole detailed account of the experience in and of itself.

Before we had the workshop though, as we were early, we managed to squeeze in a free tour of the Galimard Perfume Factory & Museum held in a separate building (close-by). Again, I have a whole separate and more detailed blog post about that here.

My Galimard Perfume

While I loved the scent I had created by the middle notes stage of the process (we started our composition with the base layer upwards), I had a lot of difficulty finding my top notes (not enough fruity/sugary options for my liking) but we got there in the end. My final notes were:

- TOP NOTES: Pineapple, white peach, lychee, green tea and English tea

- MIDDLE NOTES: Cocktail, fruity complex, tobacco note, tiare and pomegranate flower

- BASE NOTES: Vanilla, amber, praline note and iris

Once finished, we got to name our perfume; I just went with Emma (let’s pretend it’s an ode to Jane Austen as opposed to the complete lack of creativity on my part…shhhh), pick our bottle shapes, nozzle colour (silver or gold) and lid. I picked the pretty combination you see in the photos.

Then your bottle gets labelled and numbered and officially entered into the Galimard database to be able to be recreated upon request with worldwide delivery. So you too could have your very own “Emma” with the number 142819…I won’t tell.

For my makeup in this post (I tried to match the bottle label) I’m wearing on my eyes: the purple eyeshadow from the I Heart Revolution Unicorns Heart Eyeshadow Palette, Nyx Vivid Brights in 09 Vivid Blossom on upper and lower lash line darkening the top lashline further with Collection Extreme 24 Hour Felt Tip Liner in Purple (discontinued). For mascara I’m wearing YSL Volume Effet Faux Cils in Purple (again discontinued). On my cheeks I’m wearing Milani Baked Blush in Berry Amore with Clinique Cheek Pop Blush in Pansy Pop to make my cheeks slightly more purple to match the eyes. On the lips is N°7 Precision Lips Pencil in Nude and M&S satin lipstick in Chiffon (they seem to have stopped making M&S Collection makeup altogether unfortunately). On the nails I’m wearing Essie’s Virgin Snow from their Winter Collection 2015.

This perfume has got to be the longest wearing perfume in my collection hands down (and I have a hefty one). One application is enough to last you 8 hours easy (especially when sprayed on clothing), not a weakling by any stretch of the imagination!

Have you ever done a perfume workshop?

What perfume has your favourite bottle design? I think Guerlain’s La Petite Robe Noire has to be mine ;)

Ever matched your makeup or outfit to a perfume bottle? Surprisingly, I’m doing it more and more often for my perfume posts. ;)
