H&M Nail Polish Bauble

‘Tis the season!!! When I saw this amazing nail polish bauble set on the H&M website, I just knew I had to get it!!! After the beauty advent calendar boom over the last few years it was just a matter of time before ornaments got the same treatment from big beauty brands. While I’d personally love to have a tree full of Charlotte Tilbury lipsticks, that would be a taaaad bit out of my budget, so H&M it is!!! :P

I mean let’s call it what it is, they are essentially just sticking a ribbon on some pretty packaging and calling it a day. But I thought that this particular nail polish set was well done as an actual bauble. They also had a pink version, but I went with the more classic seasonal colours of red and gold. Plus, it actually went with my tree colour theme this year so how could I refuse?! Yes, I’m one of “those” Xmas people…what can I say, I must have been an Xmas elf in my past life!

Don’t let the photos deceive you the actual nail polish bottles are quite small (only 2ml worth) so that they can fit into a bauble, so you might only get a couple of manicures out of them at best! On the other hand, they would make it an ideal gift for any littler nail polish addicts out there who with their smaller fingernails might squeeze out a couple more uses out of these tiny bottles. I know I would have loved this as a kid!

Now onto the polishes themselves;

The red is a classic blue-toned red with a more jelly-like consistency than creme, so you do need a few coats to build up the opacity properly and with only 2ml to work with, that isn’t ideal.

The red glitter was my favourite from the set. Simply because Essie hasn’t come out with a red glitter nail polish yet in their Luxeffects line (still holding out hope though). For this one I had to do quite a bit of fishing to get enough glitters onto my brush and then more of a dabbing motion onto the actual nail to get an even placement of glitter. It has both tiny specks of red hexagonal glitters as well as larger ones in a clear base.

The gold is more of a metallic polish to begin with so it’s a tiny bit brushstrokey on application and dries a bit dull, so for full effect on this one I would suggest a high shine top coat.

And finally, the gold glitter unlike the red one also has added bar glitters to the two hexagonal shapes in its clear base which made it a lot easier to apply as the brush came out nicely covered and normal brushstrokes applied the glitter more or less evenly on the nail.

There you have it, a wonderful (and much cheaper) Xmas beauty ornament that I’m currently enjoying!

Now in an ideal world if you could have any beauty tree out there what would be your top ornament contender?
I know I would love an Essie tree! Although if I’m being honest with myself and my gigantic Essie collection I could either A) create one myself using clear refillable plastic baubles or B) not actually buy it because I would be getting too many doubles (which is what is currently stopping me from buying any of their advent calendars…but that’s a “me” problem :P)

What’s the most expensive beauty tree you’ve come across? I know the Louboutin lipstick ornament tree would just make my eyes water trying to do the math on how much that would be seeing as one lipstick is €95 a pop.

How about tree colour themes, any fellow elves out there going for anything fun?
